A Soldier:
Elie Deutsch is an American born IDF artillery soldier serving in a Hesder unit that is currently stationed on the northern border of Israel. Elie is one of the first “sons” of our young Bet Shemesh neighborhood to serve in the IDF.
A Song:
Elie, a budding musician, is working on his first Jewish music album. Elie’s music career has taken a backseat to his National obligations since his army discharge has been indefinitely delayed due to the current military situation.
A War:
Families in the north of Israel have either been living in their bomb shelters under difficult conditions, or they have left their homes to live in more secure areas, in temporary accommodations, relying on the kindness of strangers for their basic needs. Thousands of additional soldiers have been called up to the army (including several of our own community members).
A Community Effort:
The Bet Shemesh community has united in a massive effort to provide food, shelter, children’s programming, funds, and other necessities for the hundreds of temporary residents from the north of Israel that are living in our schools/community centers, and sharing our homes. We have also been involved in assembling care packages both for children in the bomb shelters and for soldiers who need a lift.
A Project:
By “selling” a downloadable audio album with Elie’s music and conversation clips, we will direct the proceeds to assist the people who need it the most; residents of the north and our weary soldiers, while promoting the career of one of “our own” dedicated IDF soldiers in the process.
Post-War Update:
Thank G-d, Elie Deutsch and many other soldiers have returned home safely, and the fighting has ceased for the most part. We have stopped selling the album and collecting money for distribution to relief organizations, but you can still donate to the relief effort through the links on our charity network page. There is a lot of rebuilding and psychological counseling that needs to be funded, so please keep the donations coming to those who still need the support. Thanks to everyone for making this project so successful, and stay tuned for more of Elie's music!
